Assentamento - pensar com
Attending the book club meetings hosted by The Literary Freedom Project at the Bronx Museum, where we analyzed Glaude Jr.'s essay on James Baldwin entitled "Begin Again," provided me with the inspiration to embark on my new project, "Assentamento - pensar com".
The book cover features Baldwin sitting in a chair next to three empty chairs, prompting me to ask the group: Who could be sitting next to him and why? In line with Paulo Freire's teachings, I believe that reading the world precedes reading the word.
This work arises from the desire to "think with", forming small circles of conversation that, like settlements, gather, move, and give shape to people and ideas capable of holding the world together.
